v6 adds extra functionality to clock synchronization from external sources.
To access the Transport Masters dialog, go to the Window menu and choose “Transport Masters”.
In the window the user can select the Mixbus clock source. Four choices are available:
- MTC (MIDI Time Code)
- LTC (Linear Time Code) (SMPTE)
- MIDI clock
- Select: select which of the timecode inputs that Mixbus will chase
- Name: in the case of multiple timecode sources of the same type, the user may assign a name here.
- Type: one of the available sync options: LTC, MTC, or Midi Clock
- Source: Select the appropriate audio (for LTC) or MIDI (for MTC/Midi Clock) input
- Format: a display of the incoming timecode format. Determined automatically. This cannot be changed.
- Sync Position + Delta: the current timecode position of the sync engine, and its delta with respect to this timecode source (in seconds, milliseconds, or samples)
- Last Message + Age: the value of the last message received at the input, and the time it was received (if this isn’t changing then it suggests your input is not clean)
- Active Commands: some TC formats can send transport commands embedded in the timecode. Set the options you’d like to activate here.
- Clock Synced: if the timecode source uses the same digital clock as Mixbus, then you should select this option. It allows Mixbus to sync more quickly and closely since we know the speeds of the 2 devices are identical.
- 29.97/30 : check this box to indicate that the timecode source is 29.97
- Remove (only available for user-added timecode sources)
Add a new transport master: Click this button to create a new LTC, MTC, or Midi Clock source. You may have multiples of each source, and choose which one to chase.
Keep Rolling if sync is lost: in an important recording, you might prefer for Mixbus to continue playing/recording even if the sync input is lost or no longer matches Mixbus’s transport state.
